Document by New Communist Party of Romania

Dear comrades,

It is our pleasure to send you our warmest greetings on the
occasion of this international Conference and to
congratulate you for your initiative of holding this
conference ten years after the criminal NATO aggression
againt Yugoslavia, an aggression that was carried out under
the hypocritical banner of defending human rights. That was
indeed the height of hypocrisy

We live difficult and complex times. The whole capitalism
system is faced with a deep and unavoidable crisis, that has
its roots in the fundamental contradiction of the system,
namely the contradiction between the social character of
production and the private form of ownership and
appropriation. And the capitalist's "answer" to this is to
throw the burden of the crisis on the shoulders of the
working masses, to make them cover the cost of their
irresponsible greed, with the help of the subservient
mainstream media.
Romania, like other Balkan countries, is situated in
an area where the interests of three major imperialist
powers- the US, Russia and EU- collide. It is therefore a
country where we have a heavy imperialist presence to
deal with, not just in terms of political and military
control, but also in terms of economic control, since most of the
industry and the financial sector is under the direct
control of foreign capital, of foreign capital that comes
overwhelmingly from these three empires- see, for
example, the French control of the car industry, the Russian
control of the aluminium industry, the mostly French and Austrian
control of the banks etc. This imperialist presence has
had the effect of turning Romania into a joint semi-colony of
these imperialist powers, each of them competing with the
others for achieving full dominance here. Hence the aim
of Communists should be to drive all imperialist away, to
do away with the country's reliance on
foreign capitalists, to make our country independent
of them, although we must also stress the fact that certain
situations can arise in which Communists have a duty to
manoeuver between the competing imperialist powers, to
take advantage of their rivalries in their own interest and
that of the people.
Regarding the issue of the coordination of the
antiimperialist struggles in this region, we fully agree with such a
coordination, we would like to strengthen and deepen our
mutual collaboration, to the point of achieving
something a supra-national structure of
coordination, on the basis of full equality between the
member parties and taking into account the particular
conditions of each country, which can cause the main
contradiction to vary from country to country. We, for
instance, believe that the main contradiction here is
that between the popular masses, regardless of their
nationality, and the EU imperialists, on the grounds that
it is this imperialism that exerts both the political
control and the economic control, being the largest investor here
and therefore the biggest oppressor of Romanian
workers.

We favour the building of an international anti-imperialist
and anti-war popular front that would mobilize the working
masses to confron their enemies and we appeal to all
Communist forces inspired by Marxism-Leninism to put their
differences aside and work together for the overthrow of
imperialist capitalism. Our hope is that in the near future
a new Communist International will be build, to carry on
the struggle of our great predecessors.

Long live Communism, the greatest dream of mankind!

With comradely greetings, the New Communist Party of
Romania
