A Kurdish Political Refugee was deported to Turkey
According the announcement of Anti-Racist Initiative in Thessaloniki, Greek authorities deported in July 4th the Kurdish political refugee Mehmet Kecici to the Turkish fascist regime, after they denied him political asylum and while he was on hunger strike in the Thessaloniki Police Transfer Department. The same awaits his comrade Fikret Yuksekkaya, who is still on hunger strike, also being denied his request for political asylum. According the denouncement of Anti-Racist Initiative: “… the Greek governments have long ago abolished in practice giving political asylum, (while in the EU countries the average of giving political asylum is 26,5% on the requests, in Greece – that accepts a lot less requests – the respective average is less than 1%) causing protests and condemnations even by International Organizations. Thousands of people remain hostages of the state, living in the grey unsafety zone, with the constant threat of their deportation back to their persecutors, where usually awaits them the convictions, the tortures and very often death”
Many local unions and associations have published denouncements and solidarity messages.
