We demand the immediate release of J.M.Sison

On Monday, August 27th, J.M.Sison was treacherously and illegally arrested by the Dutch Police and he is being detained without contact with his lawyer. Meanwhile, the police raided violently on the homes of other progressive Filipino migrants and refugees in the Netherlands, by breaking the door even when the residents were inside without following the legal procedure and confiscated books, notes and computers, including the NDF International Information Office in Utrecht.

J.M.Sison was a founding leader of the Communist Party of Philippines in 1968, while during the Markos dictatorship he was arrested, tortured and remained in prison and isolation for many years. He lives in Holland since 1987, as a political refugee, since his life was under threat in the Philippines. He continued his struggle for the democratic and social rights of the Philippino people, expressing also his active solidarity to the struggles of the peoples across the world. Today he is the chairman of International League of People’s Struggle (ILPS) and consultant of National Democratic Front of Philippines (NDFP) in the negotiations with the regime in the Philippines, conducted under the aegis of the Norwegian government.

That is why his political activity worries not only the Philippines government but also the US and the European Union governments. His name was included in the “terrorist” lists of the USA and the EU, while the Philippines government have used false charges for alleged murders of political opponents. Despite the fact that these fabrications collapsed both in the Supreme Court of Philippines and the European Court of First Instance, to which J.M.Sison appealed himself, the intimidating persecutions continued, violating every pretext of justice and democratic rights.

It’s obvious that what concerns the US and EU governments is the intensified political activity even for the fundamental people’s rights and that is why they do not hesitate using the worn-out label of terrorism for every activist. We condemn and denounce the terrorizing methods of the Dutch government, supported by the EU and the USA, and we demand the immediate release of J. M.Sison and the end to the persecution of the Philippino political refugees in the Holland.

The solidarity campaigns across the world and also in Greece will be the protection shield for J.M.Sison against the violation of the fundamental democratic and social rights.
