Founding Conference of People's Democratic Front of India

The Preparatory Committee of the People’s Democratic Front of India (PDFI) invites your fraternal and solidarity message on the occasion it inaugural Conference in India’s political capital, New Delhi.

The founding Conference of People’s Democratic Front of India (PDFI) is going to be held on 30 & 31 July 2006 in Delhi. The concept of PDFI has emerged out of the intense discussions and consultations that were held among a large number of organisations from across the country following the mega event Mumbai Resistance 2004. In fact, a long series of meetings that debated the need for a collective voice of the struggle forces in India came up with the idea of this platform of people’s movement.

The central focus for the PDFI will be anti-imperialist and patriotic movement. But the organisations involved in the discussions felt that any anti-imperialist movement in the 21 century cannot ignore the crucial question of democracy which is rendered meaningless by the imperialist forces by converting the domestic rulers of the oppressed countries as their representatives. Therefore, a fight against imperialist onslaught effectively means the struggle against the domestic ruling elite who are the real culprits for the re-entry of the imperialist plunderers.

In fact the PDFI is an evolving process and a front of all genuine fighting forces in the country, which seek a true transformation of our society. It is an open-ended process for all those people’s organisations and individuals who join this platform to enrich it with their struggles and consolidate with their enriching ideas of resistance to dominance and fresh construction of a new egalitarian social order. It stands for the historic need to collectively raise the banner of revolt against imperialist oppression and all reaction in our country and seeks to establish a sovereign and democratic India.

More than 150 organisations from various regions of India have so far joined as the member organisations of this front of the people’s orgnisations. And hundreds of individual democrats have also joined the process. More number of organisations and individuals are in the process of joining.

The participating organisations and individuals of the PDFI want to develop it as the storm centre of people’s struggles against unbridled imperialist exploitation of India and the source of building a genuine democratic and self-reliant India.
